There's a specific kind of discomfort that happens in meetings when someone uses a term you don't know. You nod. You write it down. You look it up later — or you don't. And next meeting, it happens again.

In fintech, that cycle is expensive. Because the terms that get used in compliance reviews, legal discussions, and product planning meetings aren't just jargon — they're shorthand for regulatory obligations, design constraints, and legal risks. Not knowing them means you're missing half the conversation.

This lesson is the vocabulary transfer. Twenty-two terms across six regulatory areas — but not as a glossary to memorise. As a set of concepts with plain-language explanations, design hooks, and example sentences so you understand them in context, not just in definition.

By the end of this lesson you'll have worked through a meeting transcript and decoded every compliance term in it, practised translating six phrases you'll hear in real product meetings, survived a meeting simulator with four different stakeholders, and built a personal vocabulary card you'll take into your next sprint.

Let's start with the terms themselves — searchable, filterable, with design hooks for every one.
